The Town of Ogunquit

Ogunquit means "Beautiful Place by the Sea" in the language of the Native Americans who summered there in pre-Colonial times. Nestled on the southern Maine coast between York and Wells, it has long been a favorite among artists for the beauty of its coastline, and is home to the Ogunquit Playhouse, one of the oldest summer theatres in the country. In addition to its lovely beaches, it offers many fine restaurants, interesting shops and galleries, and a fine art museum.
