York Village, York's historic downtown area, provides visitors and locals with charming shops and cafes, and is home to the Museums of Old York, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of historic York. Incorporated in 1652, many of York Village’s original homes and buildings remain elegantly preserved, including Coventry Hall, the most notable surviving early Federal style residence in all of Southern Maine; and York Village's stately Old Gaol, the oldest U.S. jail. York Village is York's hub for civic, governmental, and health care operations, and is also home to our Anne Erwin Sotheby's International Realty office.
Take a stroll through Steadman Woods and bounce across York's Wiggley Bridge; enjoy compelling contemporary art exhibits at the George Marshall Store Gallery, idyllically set in a historic building on the York River; and tour the eight historic buildings of the Museums of Old York.
